Thanksgiving 2008
This thanksgiving my whole family was together at my parents. It was so much fun having my sister from California in town with her family. I miss them so much and wish that we all could live close together. Seeing my kids play with their cousins all weekend was great, it reminded me of our summers in Utah playing with our cousins. As you can tell Kellen was not cooperating when it came time to take a cousin picture. That's him on the right side getting out of the picture.
While everyone was here we were able to bless Blake. Shawn did a great job as usual. We really missed Shawn's siblings, only his parents and Nicole and Brian were able to be there, but we know they were there in spirit.

The Victim...

The Criminal...

The Weapon...

Well we made it 7 weeks and 6 days before Blake was on the wrong end of his brothers wrath. Yesterday I was at my parent's house and had just finished feeding Blake when I put him on the ground to clean up spit up. I hear Kellen say something so I turn around to see what he wants and I see Kellen with drums in his hands held above Blake's head. As I am yelling NO Kellen drops the drums on Blake's head. I freak out. Blake turns red and is holding his breath. I rush the 3 feet in between us and pick him up all the while getting mad at Kellen. Kellen freaks out. Blake finally catches his breath and is now hysterically crying. I put Kellen in time out while I calm Blake down and then try to calm Kellen down. I think it took me the same if not longer to calm Kellen down. The whole thing seemed to be in slow motion, it felt like it lasted an hour but probably only lasted 5 minutes. Now I know what I am in for for the rest of my life, boys will be boys.

So it has taken several months but Kellen can now ride his bike without help. For a long time he couldn't reach the pedals so he would Fred Flintstone it. Now he can start and stop, turn and all that stuff by himself.
Only in Arizona can you lay out in November. Shawn's Dad said it was so nice out that he was going to lay out. As soon as Kellen saw him out there he wanted to lay out too.
For the Ward Trunk or Treat Kellen went as James Bond and man did he love his gun.
I had to dress Blake up but I could not find a newborn costume, they are all 0-9 months and let me tell you that is a big range, so he just got a new onsie with a ghost.

Kellen went as a Chip 'n Dale Dancer (Shawn's choice). I was very reluctant at first but I have to admit it turned out pretty cute and was a big hit.

Getting Ready for Halloween
Shawn and Kellen carved pumpkins on Thursday night. Kellen seemed to get into carving pumpkins, but not as much as Shawn did. Halloween is definitely mu husbands favorite holiday.

Kellen smiling at the camera. This is the only way that he will smile for the camera.

The finished products. Notice mine is not done. After 2 1/2 hours I was done carving pumpkins.

My mom made carmel apples with the boys. What is Halloween without carmel apples?

I totally jinxed myself!

When I was in the hospital getting ready to have Blake the nurse in pre-op was asking me about my medical history. I proceeded to tell her that I was healthy and that other than my other c-section I had only been in the hospital one other time to get my gallbladder removed. As some of you know I got gallstones a few months after Kellen was born and had to get my gallbladder removed. So after I told her this I said "I wonder what ailment I will get after this baby". Stupid stupid me. When I was in the hospital my back started hurting a little and I didn't think anything of it. I mean those beds aren't that comfortable and I was in it for 3+ days and starting to nurse I thought my back was sore from that. Well I get home and my back still hurts but again I think that it is from nursing. Well a few nights ago my back hurt so much that I couldn't do anything, I mean this hurts more than recovering from my c-section. It even hurt just laying in bed. I knew that I was getting a UTI and had been drinking Cranberry juice to help with that until I went to the doctor on Wed. for my 2 week check-up. So I decided to start taking my oxycodone until I went to the doctor and ask him about my back too. So yesterday I go to the doctor and yes I have a UTI and when I asked him about my back he tells me that I have a kidney infection. So he gives me a high dosage of some medication to get rid of the kidney infection and tells me that I will probably get a really bad yeast infection and since I am nursing Blake will most likely get thrush. Yippee. I just started the medication last night and no relief yet (it is supposed to take a few days) and I am doing everything I can to prevent a yeast infection because I do not want Blake to get thrush. So the moral of this story is that the next time I have a kid I am not going to say anything about what is going to happen next.

Blake Wayne Mecham
Blake joined our family today at 1pm on the dot. He weighs 7 lbs. 3 oz. and is 21 inches long. He looks just like Kellen except his eyelashes are not as long.
I am doing great and I have been up and walking.
Blake on the other hand Blake is in the Special Care Nursery (also known as the NICU), he has some fluid in his lungs and is breathing fast. They are running tests and so far they don't think that there is an infection so now we need to wait and see if and when the fluid either be absorbed by his lungs or he coughs it up. They are keeping him in the nursery untill his breathing is under control. Hopefully that will all be soon and he can come into my room.
Cooking with Kellen
I was so busy yesterday trying to get everything ready for the baby that I felt that Kellen and I needed to do something fun together. Kellen loves to help me cook and so we decided to make chocolate chip cookies.
What good chef doesn't taste the dough to make sure it is just right.

Enjoying the fruits of our labor. I think Kellen ended up eating 3 cookies, so much for dinner.

For anyone who doesn't know I am going to have my c-section today at 12:30. I am hoping we can post some pictures today or tomorrow. If not check my sister Nicole's blog (Jason and Nicole), she will probably post some. Wish me luck.

Maternity Pictures
Shawn's sister Nicole took some maternity pictures of me a couple of weeks ago so that I can remember how huge I am. Thank you Nicole. The pictures turned out great and I am glad that I did it since I don't have more than a handful of pictures of me this pregnancy.

Kellen kisses my belly every time we mention the baby. Usually he lifts my shirt first, but I will spare all of you that visual.

I love how this picture turned out.

Me and my boy, soon to be my boys.

Of course what is a photo shoot without a few pictures of the always photogenic Kellen.

Check out Kellen's vampire shot. Shawn and I knew that his fangs were long but this is out of control.

Arizona Museum of Natural History
The other day my mom and I decided to take the boys to the dinosaurs museum. I haven't been there for a long time but I was amazed at how much more than dinosaurs there are. Here are the boys in jail.
I had to get at least one picture with a dinosaur.
Parker and Merrick (2 of Colette's nephews) panning for gold.
Kellen panning for gold. All he really did was get sandy water all over the place.
Kellen showing of his bag of gold. He loved that he got to take it home with him.
This summer we have been trying to stay inside more and Shawn and I were feeling bad so we decided to get Kellen some fish. He loved going and picking out the fish and bringing them home. We put the tank in his room and he just sits there and stares at them. Unfortunately three of the fish have since died and Shawn and I are needing to replace them. Also, if you are wondering yes Kellen has a black eye, he is becoming so mischievous I can't seem to stop him from climbing up things or jumping onto things even when he gets hurt.
My mom made cookies with the kids and Kellen was able to lick his first beater. I guess my mom is nicer than me because I haven't ever let him before but I think I will have to every time from now on.
He wouldn't give me the beater until all of the dough was licked off. By the time he was done the cookies were almost out of the oven.
We went to Waldos BBQ for lunch last Saturday and Shawn had to put Kellen on the pig. Kellen had so much fun that he did not want to get off when the ride was over.
We also were at the mall and I took Kellen on the carousel. He loves going on this and would ride it all day long.

Baby Update

I know that I have not been that great about blogging lately and I am truly sorry. I have found that the second pregnancy seems to tire me out more than the first. I don't know if it is the heat or because I get to chase Kellen around all day but I am pooped by nap time everyday and I don't seem to recover until the next morning.
I went to the doctor this week (I am now going every 2 weeks) and we set the date for my c-section. So we will the proud parents of 2 little boys on September 26th. Shawn and I were not sure if we were going to go ahead and set up the c-section or try a v-back but after talking to the doctor about the options, me measuring big and him not sure if I would be able to do the v-back we decided to got the safe route and plan the c-section. I am finding that this planning thing is pretty great since I know the day and time that I will be having the baby I feel like I can plan everything better then if we were just waiting for him to decide to join us. Now all we need is a name, any suggestions?

Here are some more wonderful pictures Nicole took of Kellen and Gus playing in the hose and a tub of water.

Okay, so these pictures are from Easter, but I just got them the other day from Shawn's sister. The boys were so cute after the easter egg hunt they all wanted to ride in the wagon. So instead, Kellen, Zane and Gus rode in the wagon and Justin and Chance pushed/pulled. They had so much fun together. Kellen loves playing with his cousin (especially the big boys).
