Kellen and I(Colette) had the opportunity to go to Utah the first weekend of October. Even though it was Conference Weekend that was not why we were there. We went with my parents to go and celebrate my grandma's 86th Birthday. Here is Kellen with my grandma (on the left) and my great aunt JoAnn.
Kellen looking so cute in his beenie.
Four of my cousins had babies in the last year. Here is Kellen with three of them, Madilyn, Bentley, and Joshua. Madilyn is one now and Bentley and Joshua were born in April so they are 2 months older than Kellen. I hope they can be good friends when they grow up, like I was with my cousins.
Here is Grams getting ready to blow out her candles.
Here is Kellen hangin out on the grass. He has this new thing, he pulls his pant leg up. He even does it when he wears shorts.
Here are the three boys hangin out. We all were playing around outside and the boys loved being on the blanket and playing with each other.
Shawn and I decided to drive up to Prescott the second weekend of October so we could go to Young's Farm before they closed. It was a lot of fun and we were able to see Ben and Amberly and their two adorable kids, Jolie and Bronson. It was a great day.
Here is how Kellen spent alot of the day. Good thing he likes it in his stroller.
Kellen playing around in the pumpkins, he had alot of fun getting dirty.
Shawn and I had planned a trip to California with my mom to visit my sister Christie and her family. It turned out that Shawn's parents were going to the beach at the same time so we went and hung out there with Shawn's family for a day.
Here is Kellen getting some fresh air on the balcony with Grandpa Mecham and Jolie.
Kellen and Shawn ready for the beach.
This is how Kellen spent his first beach experience, under the umbrella asleep. Doesn't he look like a stud?
Hangin' out in the hotel room in Carlsbad. Kellen was loving the hotel life, as you can tell, but Shawn and I were glad to put him back in his room. (Kellen is a loud sleeper)
We went to my sister Christie's house for a few days. Here I am withKellen, Ethan, Christie, Ansliey and Bonnie (my mom). While we were there Shawn and I went to Magic Mountain and of course like all Costley vacations we went shopping.
Here is Shawn and Kellen relaxing after a long day of shopping.
In the long car drives to and from California Kellen found a friend, his thumb.
Shawn's parents are building a cabin in Prescott and he was up there helping his dad so Vicki (Shawn's mom) and I decided to go up for a couple of days. Shawn's sister, Nicole, and her kids also came up for a day. It was a lot of fun and great to get out of the heat for a couple of days.
Joile and Max making fire pits at the cabin lot. Behind them is the path that you drive up to get to the lot.
Kellen hangin out with Grandma Mecham.
Here is the driveway that Shawn, Del and Ben have been pouring. The cabin is going to be on a landing at the top of this incline. It is beautiful up there and we can't wait for the cabin to be finnished so that we can go and visit.
On July 23rd Shawn had the opportunity to bless Kellen. We decided to have a private blessing so that both sets of grandparents would be there. It was a great weekend for us. Colette's sister Christie and her family came into town from California and her grandmother and two aunts (Nancy and Janet) came from Utah for the blessing. Shawn's family was also in attendence, but we missed the Proctors and the Texas Mechams. After the blessing we had a wonderful lunch at Colette's parents house (Would you expect anything less then wonderful from Bonnie?) Here are some pictures from that day.
Kellen already to go on his big day. He slept through the entire blessing.
The Costley family
The proud parents with their adorable little boy.
Great Grandma Costley with Kellen. Grams has never missed a blessing, baptism, graduation or wedding and was not going to stop now, even if it was 105 outside.
Well he came 9 days late but on June 19, 2006 at 8:04 a.m. Shawn and I welcomed Kellen Paul into our family. I was sippoded to be enduced ( they had started my gel treatments) but Kellen was having some problems with my contractions so I ended up having to have a c-section. He is fine now but because of the fact that I was 9 days late the placenta was getting old and he wasn't getting enough oxygen. This meant that when I would have a contraction his heart rate would decrease and the doctors where not sure he would make it thru the labor, so instead of an emergency c-section we went straight to it. Hey, the good thing about having a c-section was that I never really had to feel the contractions and never had to push. The bad thing about having a c-section was that I had to stay in the hospital longer. I was going stir crazy in there.
Here are some pictures of our adorable Kellen. He weighed 7lbs. 14 oz. and was 21 inches long.
As you can tell he has black hair and lots of it. He has Shawn's dark brown eyes with Colette's eyelashes.
Shawn is great with Kellen and Kellen sure does love daddy. They cuddle up all the time which is great for me because it gives me a little break.
